Telogen Effluvium occurs when a large number of hairs prematurely enter the shedding phase, causing diffuse thinning across the scalp. It’s often triggered by stress, illness, or hormonal shifts.

FPHL, on the other hand, develops gradually and follows a different pattern. It typically affects the crown and top of the head, where hair follicles become smaller and produce finer strands. Kingsley notes that while FPHL shares some similarities with male pattern baldness, the underlying mechanisms are more complex for women.

Interestingly, the triggers for thinning vary by age group. A woman in her twenties may experience shedding due to birth control changes or stress, while a woman in her forties may see loss tied to perimenopause or nutrient depletion.
