Camila Caballo has blessed us with some of the grooviest chart-topping hits over the past two years but the singer's journey from a high school dropout to a musical sensation is beyond impressive.

The 'Senorita' hitmaker got her start as a member of an all-girl band but in 2018, she decided to carve her own path in the music industry. Her 2018 hit single, Havana, became a turning point in her career, making her the first female artist to top Billboard charts since Adele.

This was quite impressive considering that Cabello was only 20 years old when she achieved the feat. Her success streak didn't stop there and she found herself leading the Hot 100 song chart once again in 2019 with her steamy single 'Senorita' with Shawn Mendes.

While her name only came in the spotlight after her 2018 hit, Cabello's journey to stardom was anything but easy. Originally hailing from Havana, Cuba, the young pop star was born in the small village of Cojimar. Her family soon moved to Mexico City for a better life but when she was 6, Cabello and her parents decided to migrate to the U.S.

The family arrived and settled in Miami, Florida where Cabello's mum picked up a job at Marshall's while the young songstress enrolled in Miami Palmetto High School. It wasn't long before Cabello's vocal prowess caught the attention of music producers and at the age of 14, she decided to quit school and pursue a career in the music industry.

She kicked things off with an audition for The X Factor, a famous reality TV show hosted by Simon Cowell. At the time, she was only 15 and had asked her parents to drive her all the way to North Carolina to be able to attend the auditions.

Despite being kicked out at the initial stage of the competition, Cabello was given a wildcard entry along with 4 other girls who later banded together to form the famous musical group, Fifth Harmony. The five girls managed to reach the semi-finals but unfortunately, weren't able to win the competition.

However, good things awaited them once they left the show, and they quickly made their mark on the music industry with two back-to-back hits, Worth It and Work from Home. Sadly, Cabello left the band after only a year to focus on her solo career, landing a No.1 spot on Billboard Hot 100 with her debut album.
