At just 25 years old, there’s no doubt that musician Justin Bieber has already experienced highs and lows in his life. Finally in a better place and having just released a new album, he’s now reflecting on his current triumphs and past mistakes, particularly with his previous relationships.

Being Honest

In an interview with Zane Lowe, Bieber spoke about how he chose to be honest with his now-wife Hailey Baldwin at a time when he wasn’t ready to make a commitment to her yet although he wanted to.

He admits that he was still hurt from a past relationship then leading him to behave that way. Bieber also confessed that he didn’t realize his struggles at the time and wasn’t aware that he was dealing with ‘unforgiveness’.

Despite this honesty though, Bieber said that the two of them still ended up hurting each other. Although they were in love, they weren’t together at the time and were seeing other people. This then led to them ending up not even on speaking terms.

Previous Relationship

Looking farther into the past, the ‘Yummy’ singer admitted that he was ‘crazy’, ‘wild’, and ‘reckless’ in a previous relationship.

While he didn’t specifically name names, it’s worth noting that he was in an on-again, off-again relationship with fellow musician Selena Gomez earlier in their careers.

Despite breaking up in 2012, they were linked together again in 2017 and reportedly broke up in 2018. Months later, Bieber proposed to Baldwin.

This admission came just weeks after Gomez claimed that Bieber emotionally abused her during their relationship. She dropped the bombshell in an interview with Lulu Garcia-Navarro.

Finding the One

Meanwhile, Bieber shares that he’s chosen to build and focus on himself to make the right decisions in his life, which led him to get better. Aside from his wife, he also credits his return to his faith for helping him get his life back on track.

The singer also talked about how he realized that Baldwin was the 'one’. According to Bieber, ‘something just clicked’ after he saw the model express her nurturing nature and knowing that she could offer that characteristic to him. He said that he wanted the mother of his future kids to look at a baby that she does. Just a few months after this realization, he asked her to marry him.
